description

Situated on UNESCO world heritage site Zollverein the Ruhr Museum with its freestanding orange escalators is an unmistakable building. The museum’s permanent exhibition tells the story of the natural and cultural history of the Ruhr region, from its earliest beginnings to the present day. One of the buiding’s main characteristics is its striking orange staircase that connects the three exhibition floors which focus on different aspects of the region – its memories, its history and the present time. Alongside the permanent exhibition, the regional museum regularly presents special exhibitions on themes of natural and cultural history.
